This issue of Unbound News explores fulfillment, inspired by my first experience participating in Read Across America. Being in the room with schoolchildren as they enjoyed storytime, shared thoughts about their emotional growth, and eagerly joined in activities made the theme of fulfillment feel very real to me.
“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”
It’s with intent that Tale Bound’s mission is to use storytelling to start meaningful conversations with children.
Cole, the star of the planned series, I’m a Dog!, embodies self-awareness and confidence as he continues developing social and emotional skills alongside Ryane. Come along for the adventure and fall head over paws for Cole.
This issue is bound to fulfill: enjoy it from start to finish, or choose your own reading adventure via the Table of Contents.

The Tail Behind the Tale
In the first issue, Bound to Happen, I shared the inspiration behind Cole’s character. As registration for local craft shows and events began, offering only one book felt limiting. To strengthen booth presence and engage more families, the line expanded to include dog-friendly tug toys.
This was inspired by Tucker’s love of tug toys. Select from a range of hand-made options with vibrant colors, customize your own creation, or join the fun with a make-and-take experience. Plus, a portion of proceeds supports charity. Every purchase gives back to the community!

Tucker approves this toy! ✔️

Our Story So Far
Read Across America
In celebration of Read Across America, I volunteered time with Bon Secours Community Works to share the joy of reading with students across Baltimore, MD. I visited two of their community schools and read to Kindergarten and First grade students.
Their courage in sharing moments when they felt nervous or afraid, yet chose to try anyway, was truly inspiring. From running off stage and finding the bravery to return, to heading into the basement despite the scary spiders, I was deeply moved by their willingness to be vulnerable, connect with one another, and show kindness.
Book Companions
Keep the adventure going after the story ends with Tale Bound’s book companions. The first of three is now available. These are complimentary resources to help make engagement easier.

Cole’s confidence shines brightly in The Scaredy Cat, But I’m a Dog as he shares his acts of bravery.
Being vulnerable, both in sharing and listening, increases social-emotional learning, relationship building, and community belonging.
Boundless Bravery is a newsletter column open for our readers to tell their story. These experiences can be small, daily acts of courage, or more challenging events faced with bravery.
